    HR/ H&S Support Assistant Based in Evenwood

    Job Description

    Job title: HR/ Health & Safety Support Assistant

    Location: Evenwood, County Durham

    Salary: Competitive salary

    Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 08:00-13:00

    Position reports to: HR Business Partner with a dotted line to the Group Head of Health & Safety

    Main purpose of job:

    The postholder will support the HR Business Partner for the site across all elements of the employee lifecycle.

    The post holder will support the Group Head of Health & Safety to provide guidance and support to Supervisors and all employees across the full range of Health & Safety work.

    Key areas of the job:

    HR

    Responsibilities across the employment life cycle will include:

    Recruitment

    Ensure administration is completed (recruitment forms, references, right to work checks, offer letters, contracts)

    Working with Hiring Managers on job adverts

    Working with the wider group on external job advertisement for the website

    Advertising jobs internally & on relevant job boards

    Onboarding

    Supporting the training co-ordinator with new starters induction/training

    Completing post-employment Occupational Health Referrals

    Administering new starter employee benefits

    Setting up new starters on HR system

    Policies, processes & procedures

    Working with the HR Business Partner on updating current HR policies, processes & procedures

    Employee relations

    Note take in Disciplinary and Grievance meetings

    Work with the HR Business Partner preparing invite letters, evidence packs and outcome letters

    Escalating any issues to the HR Business Partner where necessary

    Employee Changes

    Complete relevant paperwork to confirm changes in Employees T&Cs

    Update the HR system

    Training

    Co-ordinate training courses working with managers

    Log training & issue certificates

    Absence management

    Work with the HR Business Partner to complete Occupational Health referrals

    Work with managers on completing return to work documents

    Monitor the absence phone line and update the HR system

    Work with the HRBP on producing absence reports

    Offboarding

    Ensure administration in completed (leaver paperwork, updating employee benefits, updating the HR system)

    Other

    Supporting the HR Business Partner with HR communications

    Supporting with general HR enquiries

    Updating company org charts

    Hotel & car booking where necessary

    Checking the Apprentice levy

    Administering eye care vouchers

    Health & Safety

    Update/maintain the H&S system

    Occupational Health Surveillance van booking

    Identifying H&S training requirements working with the training co-ordinator

    Participating in H&S meetings

    Completing PPE audits

    Supporting the Group Head of H&S with DSE assessments, accident files & information, gathering data for claims, meeting with insurance companies.

    Supporting the Group Head of H&S with any projects when required

    Key requirements

    Essential

    Previous experience within a HR/H&S environment

    CIPD Qualification/studying towards or equivalent degree

    Computer literate/proficient in Microsoft 365

    Good administrative skills

    Able to communicate at all levels within the business

    Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

    Ability to work as part of a team

    Flexibility/willingness to learn

    Ability to prioritise workload

    Desirable

    Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
