    Head of Manufacturing Operations - Fablink Tank Systems based in Evenwood, County Durham

    Job Purpose

    To oversee the daily operations of the plant and be instrumental in supporting the introduction of new projects.

    Manage resources to plan and implement production schedules that ensure customer deadlines are met.

    Emphasis will be on health and safety, customer quality, customer delivery and cost control.


    Relationships

    Reports to - Managing Director

    Responsible for - Site Operations and Production

    Close Liaison with - Quality, Purchasing, Site Engineering, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Customers, Suppliers


    Key Areas of Job

     Ensure focus on Health & Safety is maintained across the site and drive improvements through regular reviews and involvement/engagement of employees

     Plan and schedule resources to ensure that customer requirements and demand are met to ensure an On Time In Full delivery performance of >98%

     Ensure that manufacturing and assembly processes are adhered to in order that customer quality expectations are met

     Maximise efficiency and productivity through the effective monitoring and reviewing of NVA within the production processes and derive plans to identify and remove waste

     Control direct and indirect labour to include absence monitoring and effective use of overtime (if required)

     Control production costs and expenditure in line with budget expectations

     People development - manage the growth and success of the operational team through regular reviews and the introduction of personal development plans

     Co-ordinate activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements

     Communicate business expectations with direct reports and identify any bottlenecks within the operational process

     Monitor customer orders and schedules – recognising fluctuations in demand or revised delivery requirements and plan and action accordingly – liaising closely with customers where demand influences productivity

     Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in line with required production TPM schedules

     Ensure team has all necessary tools to carry out their tasks

     Provide guidance and mentoring to the team

     Support the introduction of new projects with regards to influencing strategic decisions around layouts, manufacturing processes and resources

    Support business initiatives that work towards continuous improvement – with a focus on 5S and lean manufacturing principles


    Key Post Holder Requirements

    Essential:

     Minimum of 10 year’s daily operations management experience in a fast paced manufacturing and/or assembly environment

     Operational experience within the manufacturing engineering industry

     Proven track record of meeting and exceeding operational targets

     Proven track record in business change management and the implementation of new working practices

     Experience of people management and development

     Organised, structured and systematic approach to work

     Ability to work under pressure and react swiftly to changing priorities

     Demonstrated communication skills at all levels within the business

     Attention to detail and an ability to recognise trends within given KPI’s

     Ability to formulate plans to contain and resolve issues

     Sound IT skills – specifically Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

     Takes responsibility and uses initiative to drive towards excellence

     A working knowledge of an MRP/ERP system

     Flexibility to travel and support other sites within the Fablink group companies if required to do so

    Desirable:

     Minimum qualification of ILM L5 or equivalent in a management

    An understanding of budget setting and P&L responsibility
