Group NPI Buyer
£30,000 - £35,000 a year - Full-time, Fixed term, Freelance
Leading New Product Introduction (NPI) for our Off Highway sectors, providing group wide support for the gated NPI process. Responsible for identification and selection of suppliers at tender stage, progressing to cost effective and timely procurement of outsourced parts and services to meet project deadlines. Key Liaison between site engineering teams, suppliers, and wider Purchasing team.
Role may extend to Category management of some direct areas of spend.
Reports to - Head of Purchasing
Responsible for - Purchasing NPI activities across the Fablink Group of Businesses
Close Liaison with - Internal Commercial, Engineering and Purchasing Teams plus external supply base. Key stakeholders at multiple sites including Senior management, internal quality teams, purchasing, engineering & operations. Position will encompass customer facing activities.
Key Areas of Job
Ø Purchasing Ambassador for the NPI Process. Leading development of the departmental process to meets objectives and streamline workload.
Ø Attend Groupwide NPI meetings, providing updates for purchasing activities and and taking ownership of department tasks
Ø With support from Category buyers, lead supplier identification and complete the RFI / RFQ process to support company tenders
Ø Coordinate the procurement of outsourced parts and services to support prototype and pre-production build
Ø With support from Category buyers, secure cost-effective supply solutions for mature production
Ø With support from the SDE, drive supplier adherence to milestones, APQP & PPAP requirements.
Ø Coordinate KPI and all related reporting of NPI activities for the purchasing team
Ø Develop and nurture robust & productive relationships with external suppliers, acting as liaison with the business for engineering and commercial feedback
Ø Coordinate and (where required) provide administrative support for supplier set-up, MRP management and Purchase Order release.
Ø Any other duties deemed necessary to support the business.
Ø In depth knowledge and experience of RFI, RFQ & supplier selection processes
Ø Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret commercial data & engineering drawings
Ø Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written & verbal communication
Ø Highly Organised with ability to accurately record & report on activity
Ø Self-motivated with ability to work remotely without direct supervision.
Ø Commercial experience in sourcing direct products and services
Ø Capable of interpretation, negotiation, and management of supply contracts.
Ø Confident with negotiation and issue resolution.
Ø Ability to liaise and work with internal & external stakeholders
Ø Ability to work as part of a nationwide team
Ø Prepared to travel to suppliers & group locations (Travel expectation approximately 10%)
Ø Fully conversant with M.S. Office, particularly Excel and Powerpoint
Ø Knowledge of welding and associated manufacturing techniques.
Ø Competent user of MRP systems
Provisional Closing date: 26th January 2022, but will close earlier if we have sufficient suitable candidates.
